Artistic Coaching for Healthcare Clowns
Artistic Coaching is the optimal missing link between the artistic workshop lead out of hospital and the onsite improvisation clown play.
The artistic coach accompanies the clowns on rounds. He observes them and supports the optimization of their play.
​The coaching is neither a control nor an evaluation. It is a part of the ongoing training of the organization and accompanies the performers through their work. It touches both the domain of artistic clowning as well as the adaptation of this art to the healthcare environment.
It is a constructive tool that:
  • gives an artistic laboratory space for the performers
  • allows onsite research to be in the work environment
  • offers the performers assessment of the journey of their professional evolution
  • defines major and minor projects and goals that each performer can work on in the following work days
  • is fruitful for improving the existing work as well as exploring new domains and topics
  • reinvigorates the relationship and play between performers that have been doing  the work for a long time
This approach comprises a set of tools that are specifically customized to the clown play in the healthcare environment.
Over the past nineteen years Ami created and developed these tools through his experience as a Healthcare Clown Coach and performer.
It is a natural extension of the artistic workshops that he leads.
